4 Hawaii Vacation Money Saving Tips

June 2, 2009

Everybody’s looking for that elusive deal when planning their trip to Hawaii. But the truth is, there’s not better way to pinch pennies than with these 4 money saving tips for booking a Hawaii vacation.

1) Travel in the Off-Season
Travel when other people aren’t and you’ll find discounts on just about everything. Try and take your vacation during April and May (and sometimes the beginning of June) or September through November. This is when the airfare, activity, vacation rental and hotel rates are lowest. Rates are highest during major holidays, summer (basically school vacation time).

2) Book Early
The general rule of thumb is that the earlier you book, the more you’ll save. However, there are also last minute deals, but these are rarely as low as booking early.

3) Book Online
Many businesses (especially activity companies) reward you for making your reservation online by offering discounts on their website.

4) Book a Vacation Rental
If you are traveling with children or more then one family, consider a vacation rental home or condo. These types of accommodations offer full kitchens so you can eat in, keeping you from expensive meals at a restaurant. Also, the cost of sharing a vacation rental home with another family will be less then booking multiple hotel rooms.

Thanks for the tips. What about saving money for traveling on weekdays opposed to weekends? Are certain days better for flying then others?
